How to Get an Accurate Custom Lighting Quote from a Manufacturer?

You do not need a finished CAD file to request a custom lighting quote. A product photo or link, estimated quantity, target market, and list of required changes are enough to begin a conversation about custom LED lamp manufacturing.

To keep the decisions concrete, this guide follows a private-label rechargeable table lamp. The quotation framework also applies to other repeatable LED lamp products, but the battery and charging details are specific to rechargeable models.

The first response may still be a conditional estimate. To make it useful, label each requirement as required, preferred, or open to recommendation. That tells the manufacturer where to quote a fixed specification and where to propose an option.

What Do You Need to Request a Custom Lighting Quote?

For a first quote, send enough information for the factory to identify the product, customization level, expected volume, and target market.

InformationWhat to provide at first contact
Product referenceA photo, product link, drawing, model number, or physical sample
CustomizationThe logo, color, finish, structure, functions, and packaging you want to change
QuantityEstimated first order and the split by model, color, or packaging version
Key requirementsBattery, runtime, color temperature, charging method, controls, or use conditions that matter to the product
Target marketDestination country and sales channel
PackagingStandard packaging or a branded retail box, plus labels, barcode, and manual requirements
Timing and destinationDesired sample timing, launch window, and delivery country or port

You do not need to invent a battery capacity. If you want longer runtime, give the target hours and the brightness or operating mode. A factory cannot quote from mAh alone: LED power draw, dimming level, available battery space, and the charging circuit all affect the configuration that must be built and tested.

Separate fixed requirements from preferences. In the example project, the body color, logo, and retail box are required. Battery capacity is open, so the request should ask the factory to recommend an option and quote against that exact option.

Can You Get a Custom Lamp Quote from a Photo or Product Link?

Yes. A photo or product link can support an initial feasibility review and estimate, but it cannot define the final production price by itself.

The amount of detail increases in three steps:

  • Initial inquiry: Send a reference, intended use, estimated quantity, and requested changes. The factory can assess feasibility and give a conditional estimate.
  • Detailed quotation: Lock the main configuration, customization, packaging, and commercial terms. The supplier can itemize the scope and assumptions.
  • Pre-production: Approve the sample, specification, artwork, and packaging. Together, they define the production basis.

Tell the factory what the reference represents. Is it an exact target, a general style, or a reference for one feature? Similar-looking lamps can use different materials, batteries, internal structures, electronics, and surface processes.

The same reference may lead to three routes: select an existing model, modify a proven platform, or develop a new structure. Adding a logo to an existing housing can usually be quoted after the factory confirms the artwork, position, size, and marking method. A new housing must first go through structural review, drawings, tooling scope, and sampling, so its first estimate will contain more open items. Our guide to launching a private-label rechargeable table lamp explains those development routes in more detail.

What Makes a Custom LED Lamp Quote Useful for a Buying Decision?

A decision-ready quotation identifies the configuration being priced and makes every unresolved item visible. It does not need to remove all uncertainty at the first contact.

Check that the quote states:

  • The product model, drawing, or specification version;
  • Quantity by model, color, and packaging version;
  • Unit price, currency, quantity basis, and MOQ conditions;
  • Sample, tooling, engineering, or setup charges where applicable;
  • Logo, accessories, labels, manuals, and packaging included in the price;
  • Estimated production timing and the approval point from which it starts;
  • The Incoterm, payment terms, and quotation validity;
  • Assumptions, exclusions, and documents confirmed for the quoted configuration.

Apply that test to the example brand. A plain export carton groups and protects products for bulk transport. An Amazon-ready retail pack may also require an individual color box, inserts, barcode and product labels, a manual, and protection for parcel delivery. A quote based on the export carton does not describe that retail SKU unless the extra packaging work is listed separately.

Two decimal places do not make an incomplete quote decision-ready. A useful quote shows what will make the number change. Before approving a supplier, connect the quotation to one specification revision and resolve open items through the sample.

What Affects Custom LED Lamp Pricing and MOQ?

Pricing and MOQ change with customization depth, but the factor setting MOQ is not always the largest unit-cost factor.

  • Custom color or finish: Color matching and the finishing batch may set a minimum for each finish.
  • Battery or function change: A different battery, driver, LED, charging method, or control may change components and the technical review required.
  • New housing or structure: Engineering, prototypes, and tooling may appear as separate one-time work.
  • Retail packaging: A new dieline, print setup, materials, and the printer’s production minimum can affect the practical order quantity.

For selected iLEDGlow models, 200 units per color is a starting reference; final MOQ still depends on the model, color or CCT split, and customization scope. Five hundred lamps in one color form one finishing batch. Five colors at 100 units each create five color-matching, finishing, and inspection setups, and may each fall below the model’s per-color requirement.

This is the useful rule: MOQ driver ≠ unit-cost driver. A printed box may set a practical minimum without being the largest cost in the lamp. A higher-spec component already stocked by the factory may raise the unit price without creating a new production minimum.

An OEM LED lighting quote should separate one-time development or tooling charges from the recurring product price. Ask what sets the MOQ for each model, color, and packaging version instead of treating one total quantity as the full answer.

How Do You Compare Quotes from Different LED Lamp Manufacturers?

Compare suppliers only after their quotations describe the same product, packaging, and trade terms.

For the 500-unit example, Supplier A’s lower unit price is not yet the lower offer:

Quote itemSupplier ASupplier BWhat the buyer must normalize
Unit priceLowerHigherCompare again after every inclusion uses the same scope
BatteryConfiguration not statedBattery configuration statedUse the same battery, driver, operating mode, and runtime basis
PackagingPlain export cartonBranded retail box, labels, and manual includedRequest the same unit packaging and outer-carton scope
One-time chargesNot statedSample and setup charges listed separatelyIdentify every sample, setup, engineering, and tooling charge
Trade termEXWFOB ShenzhenCompare at the same freight boundary and destination

Supplier B is not automatically better; it has simply defined more of the scope. When you compare custom table lamp manufacturers, send the same locked requirements to every shortlisted factory and request a revised quotation. Then compare price alongside sample quality, communication, assumptions, and exclusions.

What Are iLEDGlow’s MOQ, Sample, and Production Terms?

iLEDGlow quotations use the selected model and customization scope to confirm the final terms. The current working conditions are:

  • MOQ: Our standard wholesale MOQ is 200 pieces per model. OEM/ODM projects generally start from 500 pieces, with the final MOQ depending on the product model and customization requirements. Color and CCT splits should be confirmed separately because each variant may have its own production minimum.
  • Samples: Sample preparation normally takes 7–15 days. Courier delivery typically takes another 7–15 days. Ask for the sample fee and courier cost as separate quotation items.
  • Bulk production: The usual production lead time is 15–30 days. The quotation should state the schedule for the confirmed configuration and order.
  • Warranty: One year.
  • Payment and shipping: T/T, paid in full before shipment. Regular shipping options are sea freight and express, with FOB Shenzhen or Guangzhou available.

Attach these terms to a model, variant quantity, customization list, destination, and Incoterm. Without that scope, they remain planning ranges rather than order conditions.
